Nicotine Withdrawal Symptoms

side effects of nicotine withdrawal

Side affects of nicotine withdrawals resemble suffering from flue. it actually has a name for it it’s called Quitter’s flu.

yo will most likely  suffer some of these symptoms but not necessarily all of them.

  • Cravings to smoke

  • Irritable, cranky

  • Insomnia

  • Fatigue

  • Inability to Concentrate

  • Headache

  • Cough

  • Sore throat

  • Constipation, gas, stomach pain

  • Dry mouth

  • Sore tongue and/or gums

  • Postnasal drip

  • Tightness in the chest

The thing to remember is for most of us who are trying to quit ,that these are temporary side effect and they should gradually disappear as time goes by.It is quite difficult to put a time line on these effect since it will depend on how long you smoked ,how much you smoked and how your body deals with the nicotine withdrawals. It safe to say that generally you should be over it after a couple of months. That is not to say that you’ll never want to smoke again it’s just that those symptoms will disappear or reduce drastically. We say generally since there are proven cases of people who have the adverse effect, where after quitting their condition gets worse and the symptoms may last for months on end. if this is you then you might want to try E-cigarette (electronic cigarette ) in my opinion it is the lesser then two evils.

I gave up smoking 7 weeks ago and you were right the first week was terrible. insomnia was probably the worst of my symptoms’ followed by serious lack of concentration, “smokers flu” and stomach tightness but not sickness. Oh, and my favourite eating anything in sight. I smoked around ten a day for just under 2 yrs and enjoyed smoking but hated being a smoker. (if that makes sense?) I started quitting with the help of 14mg patches for the first week and reduced to 7mg patches (going against the advice from the booklet supplied.) for the next 5 weeks then stopped all nicotine replacment product for 1 week. Some symptoms have returned, * lack of concentration, irritability and insomnia being again the worst. Could someone please advise wether to continue with nicotine replacement or stop being so soft and go it alone? My wife is still a smoker who has reduced her smoking to 10 a day but is hoping to quit as soon as I feel ” I AM A NON-SMOKER!” Any advice will be greatly appriciated.

seriously, read Allan Carr`s Easyway to stop smoking. it takes away the `agony` of stopping, you may still get the odd symptom of nicotine withdrawal but it is much easier to brush them aside and be happy about no longer smoking
